The new year is around the corner and there’s a good chance you’ve made yourself a list of New Year’s resolutions, either mentally or on paper. We’re here to tell you can just rip that list apart because it’s really not that good for you to set resolutions.
Do you set yourself New Year’s resolutions each year? Here’s why you shouldn’t…
Five reasons
- The reason why you’re making a list of resolutions is that you’re not really satisfied with your life as it is currently. Is that a sentiment you want to take with you into the new year? Stop constantly trying to improve yourself or your life. Take it as it comes and enjoy it!
- Plus, you’ll feel extra bad if one of your resolutions fails. If you told yourself you needed to go to the gym three times a week or bag that promotion at work and it doesn’t work out, you’ll be experiencing the disappointment much more intensely because you’ll feel like you failed.
- There’s a good chance you won’t be able to keep to those resolutions your set. New Year’s resolutions are much too forced. Don’t try to improve certain specific aspects; just start the new year with a positive mindset. If you’re being positive, good things will come to you.
- January 1st isn’t the only time you can start improving yourself. You can start doing that on any day of any month. Always try to be the best version of yourself you can be.
- Who are you setting these resolutions for? Be sure the answer is always ‘yourself’. If you want to change something, you should do it because you want to, not because someone else wants you too. Don’t feel pressured into setting resolutions.
