Get rid of dry skin in winter? with these 5 tips!

Five tips against dry skin

During the winter months, the temperatures take quite the nosedive. It’s quite likely that your skin will suffer from this too. Because of the cold, your skin becomes dry and chapped and this can cause irritation and itchiness. This is not a fun ordeal! To make sure you don’t feel the need to scratch all day, we’ve got a few tips for you that will help you prevent dry skin. This way, you’ll protect your skin against the influences of winter in the best way possible.

Make your skin winter-proof with these five tips.

1. Scrubbing

Scrubbing helps you remove all of the dead skin cells on your skin, making your face look fresher and healthier. If you don’t do this, the dead skin cells start to heap up and this causes pimples and dry spots. You achieve the best results by scrubbing twice a week.

2. Proper cleansing method

Carefully choose the cleansing product you are going to use. Most products contain soap and perfume and that causes dry skin. Instead, pick a cleanser based on fatty alcohols like stearyl alcohol or cetearyl alcohol since these don’t dry out your skin. So, before buying a cleanser, always check the list of ingredients.

3. Moisturising

Properly care for your skin with a moisturising cream. Look for a cream with vitamin E and aloe vera since these ingredients soothe the skin. Here the same thing applies: avoid products that contain soap and perfume. It might smell nice, but it can really irritate the skin. Apply moisturising cream directly after drying your skin. That way, your skin will retain the moisture for a longer period of time.

4. Know your skin type

Do you know whether you have normal, dry or greasy skin? If you know what your skin type is, you can use products that are specially made for your skin. This will make your skin care routine a lot more effective. For people with dry skin, a moisturiser with an oil base is best. The oil forms a protective layer on your skin and ensures the proper kind of nourishment, which makes your skin soft and smooth again. People with greasy skin should avoid those oil-based products because it can cause pimples for them. If you have greasy skin, you should choose a skin care product that doesn’t clog the pores. The products should also contain anti-inflammatory ingredients since these will reduce red skin.

5. Shaving

We have to admit that we usually stop shaving our legs in winter because no one’s going to see them about in public anyway. But did you know that shaving is actually good for your skin? By shaving, you not only remove unwanted hair but you also get rid of dead skin cells. That way, the moisturising cream you apply to your legs afterwards is much more effective!
